Welcome to the Midlands Higher Education and Culture Forum

Welcome to the Midlands Higher Education and Culture Forum Website. We're delighted to finally present to you the fruits of our labour over the last 6 months since our Launch Conference last year at Nottingham Contemporary. Our Steering Group has been regularly meeting to organise Forum events on our key working group areas of Placemaking, Health and Wellbeing, Cultural Education, Talent and Employment and Collaborative Research which we hope you will participate in over the autumn in venues across the Midlands Region.

Our website currently provides information on our aims and endeavours, as well forthcoming events and a useful glossary to help demystify some of the jargon and confusion around terminology associated with research and Higher Education alongside language seemingly exclusively associated with cultural venues and arts projects. We provide useful links to funding bodies which are specifically focused around bringing together academic institutions and cultural sector venues and have also included some interesting contextual links to projects and schemes developing in the Midlands Region, which may have an effect on future collaborations between fields. As the Forum develops, I'll be travelling throughout the region to talk to organisations, projects and initiatives that are already exemplifying great ways of working together. This will take the form of informal interviews and case studies which will appear in the news section of the website.

In the future, we will present notes and guidance in the form of 'How to' guides as well as a noticeboard which will link those working in HE to Cultural Sector practitioners and vice versa, specifically aiming to link research partners together. Sign up to our mailing list to receive a quarterly newsletter on these updates as well as news of future Forum events. We'll also be publishing further information on our next Conference in Coventry in early 2019.
